Ah, then you are absolutely correct, but there is a workaround! You can open the bundle with Line 6 Edit and save out single patches to load with Gearbox so you don't have to overwrite the whole thing.

Sorry, bvesco, I see what you are talking about now. I was having the same problem as FlashW in downloading directly from Lincoln's website, not from your zip file. My solution was in reference to getting the patches directly from LB's website, in which case ALL patches are overwritten, and you definitely need Monkey to open it. BTW, LB has a new instructional DVD out which is very good. Talks about his tone, patches, certain solos, etc. Plus, I think he's got more volumes to come.

That's not right. The zip file contains six files. Five of them are .l6t tone files and one is a readme.txt file. You don't need Line 6 Edit or Monkey to open them. I just downloaded the file and unzipped it and there are still six files in it. They still open with Gearbox. Are you sure you are getting the right file at

OK, got it. You have to use Monkey to open it and dump it to your POD. Caution: It will overwrite all 32 banks, so do a batch save first. Once it's in your POD, you can use Edit or GearBox to examine and tweak the tones. Try that, FlashW., and see if it works. Worked for me. But I didn't get 5 files and 1 text file like bvesco said. In my case, all 32 banks were reloaded. Some were User files, many were labeled "Plexi Lead", but I think you get a dump of Lincoln's entire X3L memory.

I have the same problem as FlashW. There's either a problem with the unzipping, or something else. I get the LB-PODX3-V1 file name, and when asked which app. I want to use to open it, I select GearBox. GearBox then says it cannot open it. If anyone out there has a solution, please post, as I am not a zip file expert. Or would anyone have these five .l6t Brewster patches available to send as an email attachment?

After downloading and unzipping the file you should have five .l6t files and one text file. I just downloaded the zip and the patches all opened fine. Double check your downloading and unzipping procedure.

I didn't make these patches, Lincoln Brewster did. This is an analysis of the patches that he created on his gear using the pickups in his own guitars. That said, I think they sound pretty good on all the guitars I've tried them with. I have guitars with high output humbuckers, low output humbuckers, active humbuckers, and various single and split coil designs. The patches sounded great with all of them. Absolutely you should take these patches and tweak them to your own personal preference. It isn't just about copying someone else's tone. It is more about studying tone's you like to learn how to create your own in that same vein.

What kind of pickups were used in the making of your patches? I have a Strat with single coil's and wondered ifI needed to compensate for humbuckers if that is what you used... Thanks

If Line 6 Edit will not open the files then you can use Gearbox. The editor Gearbox is free and works great with POD XT. Don't confuse Gearbox the editor with Gearbox Plugin. The plugin is not free but the editor is.
