It is no secret that I’m a big fan of the Line 6 tones and method of doing things. Back before POD XT had the Metal Shop amp pack, there weren’t really any outright, crushingly good metal tones on that unit. I experimented with integrated The Weapon
into my setup to fill this gap. Though a bit focused in the type of metal tones it offers, this pedal sounds fantastic. I did eventually sell the pedal but I have regretted it ever since. Check out this sound sample of me playing through all the settings of The Weapon
straight into my computer.
Be sure to pay special attention to the sitar sound around 2:30 of the clip.

I have been way behind on cooking up some tasty guitar sounds to go along with the June 2008 issue of Guitar World. So in the interest of actually getting these posted there are no sound samples this month. As always, these guitar tones can be directly loaded into any Line 6 product that uses Gearbox as its editor. This includes POD XT, POD X3, all the TonePorts, and even the Gearbox Plugin. A few of the patches this month are dual tone pairs so you will only be able to use one part of the patch at a time if your device does not support dual tones. If you don’t have Line 6 gear you can still try dialing these settings in on your amp to see how close you can get.
Included this month:
- Children of Bodom - Lake Bodom
- Dethklok - Thunderhorse
- Avenged Sevenfold - Almost Easy
- Foghat - Slow Ride
- Heart - Barracuda
Get these great guitar sounds

Lincoln Brewster’s guitar sounds have been respected by many. He also happens to be a very high profile player of POD X3 Live. His tone is sought after by many aspiring guitarists due to his using such a readily available and affordable piece of gear for his tone. While copping his patches exactly can give you instant gratification, I find it much more desirable to learn how to get better at creating my own tones by studying great guitar sounds created by others. This article is an in-depth analysis of Lincoln Brewster’s live guitar sounds as heard through his POD X3 Live. Take a closer look at the guitar sounds of Lincoln Brewster

It is no secret that you can mix and match guitar amps with bass cabs and bass amps with guitar cabs on any Line 6 modeler that has both guitar amps and bass amps. A more subtle side effect of this is the ability to use the guitar mics on bass cabs and bass mics on guitar cabs. Since it is pretty easy to mix and match the cabs, this article is going to focus on the cabs that allow you to mix and match the microphones. You can use this technique on POD X3, POD XT (with bass model pack), TonePort, and even the Gearbox Plugin. There is also a hidden benefit if you have a unit with only guitar or only bass models. Help me mix and match microphones

Every month I try to write some cool POD patches to go along with my subscription to Guitar World. This month I was a bit busy with the holidays so I only did one tone, but I think it is killer! A few of the transcriptions are for songs that aren’t very extrodinary tonally or are played acoustically. I just was not inspired to play through those songs and/or write patches for them this month. Maybe I’ll make up for it next month. These are billed as POD patches but will work on any Line 6 that has the appropriate amp models. Give me a Metallica patch! »

The Line 6 POD X3 has the ability to function as two fully loaded and independent POD XT units. You can use your POD X3 to process two input sources and maintain individual control over the outputs. Here are a few basic and advanced examples of how to set up your X3 for this type of processing. Show me how to process two inputs »
